International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day (IWD) has been observed for over a century, yet many of the challenges affecting women’s progress remain. Since its inception in 1911, IWD has served as a global occasion for all those committed to advancing gender equality.
For over 100 years, the Women’s Institute (WI) has also been a driving force in campaigning for meaningful change across a broad range of issues. From housing and the representation of women in policing to environmental concerns such as plastic pollution, the WI has consistently been at the forefront of advocacy and reform.
This year, the theme for IWD is “Accelerate Action.”
