Price includes private tour of the castle, entrance to the gardens and coach – £29.00

We will have a private tour of the 16th Century Tudor mansion built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594. The mansion has nationally important collections of furniture, paintings and porcelain that remains the family home of the Wingfield Digby Family. The castle was used as a Red Cross VAD Hospital for wounded soldiers in the first world war in 1914.
Grade I listed Garden was one of Capability Brown’s first commissions giving us a magnificent English Landscape Garden which survives largely unaltered today. The gardens cover a large area of some 42-acres round the lake, The garden paths all have a smooth gravel surface and benches are located throughout the garden areas. The ruins of Old 12th Century Sherborne Castle can be seen from the gardens.
There is a gift shop and tearoom were you can have a drink or lunch if you wish or take a picnic to eat in the gardens.
We will have four and half hours there plus traveling time.
