This year’s New Forest Show at the end of July had a theme of ‘A day At The Beach’ and our brilliant, creative BEWI members had a plan. Whilst many of us had, maybe, bemoaned the fact that it wasn’t beach weather, our friends were busy creating everything from mermaids to charity bags and Dorset Apple Cake to name just a few things. Alison, Joy, Gilly, Sally, Glynis, Maggie, Cecilia, Mary and Pat were all awarded stars (red to double silver) and deserve a big ‘well done’. Sally’s mermaid, red star, looked glorious with her blond mohair tresses. Sally said she had taken about one week to make and she was pleased with the finished item, especially the hair. So whether you are good at baking, flower arranging, painting or sewing there is something for you to do and if you need help, other members always are on hand or you can join a course with the WI at the Learning Hub.
