BEWI wine club members were fortunate that Nicola Reid had time, during her holiday, to speak to us about Spanish wine.  Nicola is the Executive Officer of Sommeliers Australia, teaches WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) levels in wine, speaks perfect Spanish and is passionate about wine from Spain.  She’s a experienced judge of wine and was happy to educate us about six of her favourites which can be bought in the UK.  Galician wines (one of Spain’s 70 wine regions) not only benefit from the fabulous Atlantic coastline but also from the rivers in the interior.  This area is the home of albariño and wine growers are returning to the area to produce light bodied fresh wines.  Nicola also told us of her journey to becoming a talented wine expert including happy days helping with wine harvests.  Some wines are picked at night time to keep them cool and stop them over ripening in the heat.  Our evening was a great success, sampling wines and tucking into tapas created by Nicola’s partner Jake.  Thank you and Salud!
